Gym-goers will soon be able to revolutionise their fitness routine thanks to an exciting new boutique style gym concept coming to MediaCity – and they’ll even let you try before you buy.
Opening at the end of March 2023 and offering new members their first session for free, Australian gym concept UBX (pronounced You-Box) will offer unique boxing and strength training designed to fit individuals’ busy routines and personal preferences.
Located within the first floor of MediaCity’s multistorey, the opening of the 3,500 sq ft flagship space – more than double the size of standard UBX gyms – will provide a unique gym and training ground and is the first location in the UK for the franchise.
Founded by a group of experts including four-time world champion boxer Danny Green, UBX offers a full body workout in under 45 mins through no-contact workouts. An effective way to stay fit physically and mentally, UBX workouts are created by a team of in-house sport scientists and head coaches, including former Wallabies Strength and Conditioning coach Brad Harrington, and can be adapted to anyone’s fitness levels.
There are no set class times and every session features 1-to-1 coaching support, so fitness enthusiasts can simply arrive when they want, join one of the 12 stations and the coaches will guide them through a full body workout in less than 45 minutes – no matter the time or experience.
Manchester entrepreneurs Ben Waldron and James Worrall are the local team behind UBX MediaCity. Ben, a former personal trainer and gym manager, and James who previously ran his own leisure management business, first became aware of the successful concept before the pandemic. With their expertise in the health and fitness industry, they approached UBX with the vision to bring UBX to the UK.

The workouts are science led and the team are behind you every step of the way to get the results you want.”
UBX MediaCity will be led by general manager Karolina Tarozaite who will ensure the team deliver a fully guided workout for members, adapting the exercises and boxing skills to varying fitness levels, with the programmes then delivered over seven-week blocks.
