Uber has today announced that it is extending Local Cab in Greater Manchester, enabling passengers in Salford to book trips with an additional local operator via the Uber app.

Anyone opening the Uber app in Salford can select the Local Cab option, alongside regular Uber options UberX and UberXL. Local Cab trips will be booked directly with local operators, and all subsequent customer support will be provided by them.

Lynch Taxis is the latest operator to be able to fulfill Local Cab trips in the Greater Manchester area. Other operators across Greater Manchester currently offering the Local Cab option include Intime Taxis, Street Cars, Cresta Cars and Kingsway Cars.

Since the company’s successful pilot of Local Cab last year, the product has launched in over 50 locations across the UK.

Mohammad Raza Razaq, Director at Lynch Taxis:

“Demand for taxi services in Salford has grown considerably in recent months, so it’s great to be able to give passengers more options to get from A to B.”

Andrew Brem, General Manager at Uber UK:
“We were thrilled to launch Local Cab in Greater Manchester earlier this year – getting further operators on board in cities such as Salford is the natural next step. This will help to maximise earnings opportunities for more drivers and provide passengers living across the city with greater choice when booking a ride.”
