Two Swinton men who were caught with drugs worth more than £40k have been jailed for over eight years.
Andrew Pierce aged 57, of Buchannan Street, Swinton, and Ernie Wilkes aged 33 of Leinster Road, Swinton, were jailed yesterday on Monday at Manchester Crown Court.
Following a search at Pierce’s Home address back in February a bag of white powder was found underneath a mattress and MDMA was found in a vacuum-sealed bag weighing almost half a kilo in the back cavity of a sofa – drugs with a street value of just over £42,000.
A total of £27,030 in cash was also found in the address along with drugs debtor’s lists, paraphernalia and digital scales. Wilkes was staying with Pierce at his address at the time.
Wilkes was jailed for six years and a half years after pleading guilty to possession of class A drugs with intent to supply and Peirce was jailed for two years and three months after pleading guilty to allowing his premises to be used in the supply of drugs.
Detective Constable David Moran, from GMP’s Serious Crime Division, said: “Thanks to the hard work of our officers, we have prevented a significant quantity of drugs from reaching the streets.
“Drugs blight communities and this result shows our ongoing commitment to tackling illegal drugs supply in Greater Manchester.
“Pierce and Wilkes have been put before the courts and they now have a long time in prison to contemplate the foolishness of their actions.”
