An 18-year-old man remains in police custody and the 49-year-old man has been bailed with strict conditions following a stabbing incident in Whitefield on Thursday evening
The incident on Abingdon Avenue left an 18-year-old man with a serious injury to an arm.
Officers also arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of attempted murder but have since released him under investigation.
Detective Inspector Charlotte Whalley said: “I would like to thank the community for their patience during this investigation, our priority is to keep people safe and we are working hard to establish the full facts that led to this incident occurring.
“I want to reassure everyone, that we are doing our everything we possibly can to bring those responsible for this incident to justice.
“Extra patrol officers have been deployed, both on foot and in patrol cars. These officers are there to keep you safe, if you have any concerns, they will be happy to provide reassurance and listen to any of your queries.
