Two people have been arrested in Rochdale in separate incidents connected with historic child abuse
On the 16 October, investigators from our dedicated CSE MIT arrested a 32-year-old man in Rochdale on suspicion of inciting prostitution for gain.
He was questioned and released on bail with strict conditions pending further investigation.
The victim is being kept updated and supported by specialist officers and support agencies.
This arrest was made as part of Operation Exmoor, an investigation into non-recent child sexual exploitation in Rochdale. Launched in 2021, the operation is examining missed opportunities to investigate sexual offences committed between 2008 and 2010.
A week earlier a 46-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and breach of police bail in Rochdale. This comes after an original arrest in July 2025 on suspicion of rape and subsequent interviews with the victim. He remains on conditional bail.
This arrest relates to Operation Earby, which is an investigation into non-recent child sexual exploitation in both the Rochdale and Oldham areas between 1997 and 2004.
