The exciting transformation of Stretford is continuing with the completion of the first stage of public realm improvements in the town centre.
Trafford Council is working with partners to make a number of improvements to the town for the benefit of local residents and businesses.
As part of the improvements, the Council is carrying out work at the Kingsway and Barton Road junction to make it safer and greener for cyclists, drivers and pedestrians. The work fits in with Trafford Council’s corporate priorities of reducing health inequalities and addressing our climate crisis.
One section of the Kingsway footpath has been completed and provides new footpaths, seating, planting, trees, green spaces and sustainable drainage. Work on the other side of Kingsway has just started and will provide further improvements to footpaths and the formation of new pedestrian crossing points and cycle lanes.
Cllr Liz Patel, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Economy, and Regeneration, said: “Stretford town centre is being transformed into a great place for residents, shoppers, and businesses. These new road designs for Kingsway look fabulous and will make the road a safer experience, safer for pedestrians and cyclists and will complement the redevelopment work currently taking place at Stretford Mall.
“Lots of exciting work is taking place in Stretford and the town centre will be amazing when the work is completed.”
