Families throughout Trafford battling the cost of living crisis will have access to a greater range of support in the coming months thanks to the launch of Trafford Housing Trust’s Winter Support Fund.

The £200,000 fund will be shared with a variety of organisations in Trafford’s voluntary sector as well as through the six Trafford Community Hubs. This will ensure all residents can access resources including food, energy top up cards and cost cutting goods, alongside other key areas of support.

In particular, Trafford Housing Trust, part of L&Q, will work alongside the Hubs and Trafford Living Rooms to ensure residents have access to free food and warm spaces.

Organisations in Trafford will use the funding so that as well as essential goods such as food and fuel, children and families can also access school uniform and winter clothing. Practical support will also be on offer to help manage financial pressures, maximise income and reduce costs.

Help is available from the Hubs at Sale West, Sale Moor, Flixton, Urmston, Partington, Stretford, Old Trafford and Altrincham, and they will also be able to signpost people to other organisations providing additional resources. Information – including where to find the nearest Living Rooms – is available online at traffordhubs.org

Zoe Taylor, Communities Manager at Trafford Housing Trust, said: “Winter can be a challenging time of year for a lot of families at the best of times, but these next few months are going to be incredibly difficult for more families than ever before.

“Trafford Housing Trust already has a number of grant-funded projects with partners across the borough, but in recognition of the tough times ahead and the cost of living crisis we have made these additional funds available to support the groups across the borough who help those that need it most.”
