A Conservative Councillor in Bury has quit the party claiming that his local association is being run by cronies
Luis McBriar who represents the Tottington ward in a post on Facebook said that
at times nationally the party as a whole has been embroiled in scandals and problems, but I believe the party locally went through these periods continuing to fight for the best for Bury and its residents, as of today I am afraid to say I can no longer say this is the case.
Citing his reasons Cllr McBriar said that in the past few months, a small select group of cronies have unilaterally made the decision to garrotte my friend and colleague Cllr Russell Bernstein.
“Russell is the epitome of what the modern Conservative Party should be, dedicated, hard working and compassionate, he will always champion what he believes is best for our town and the constituents which he represents steadfastly. It would appear the Conservative Association here in Bury is more committed to settling scores and carrying out vendettas than ensuring we have a leader, councillor and advocate working tirelessly to improve our borough.
After party members in Bury elected the officers of the association for the next year at the Annual General Meeting, Cllr McBair accused those officers elected of bfi being once again hellbent on settling scores, some of whom having lost elections now see their only task being to bring others down, rather than working to improve our area.
Others he claimed, have committed or have excused criminal actions.
