The Conservatives will announce 150-million fund for towns to help revitalize “left behind” high streets.
The money will allow local people to buy pubs, shops, cafés and post offices threatened with closure, giving them a 50-percent discount on business rates, up from 33 percent, and a £1,000 business rate cut on pubs.
The party are also pledging £500 million to help reopen disused rail lines.
The money, to be called The Beeching reversal fund”, is intended to re-open many lines closed in the 1960’s as demand has grown in recent decades as the remainder of the passenger network has struggled under rising demand.
