Dr Kaushik Chakraborty won the Broadheath By Election for Trafford Council last night

With a turnout of nearly 50 per cent, Dr Chakraborty won 1,614 votes with Labour’s Mahvish Masood coming second with 978, followed by Louise Bird for the Lib Dem’s on  841 and Deborah Rhodes Reform UK 723;

The vote was held following the death of Councillor Denise Western the mother of Stretford and Urmston MP Andrew Western who took the seat from the Tories by just 6 votes at the last election in 2024

Labour saw a fall of nineteen per cent in its share of the vote but remain in overall control on the council
