Three men, aged 23, 43 and 56, have been arrested on suspicion of assault after an attack on the occupants of a property in Bury on Monday night

The attack saw a man taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police say that a group of males forced entry into a property on Kestrel Drive and attacked the occupants.

Two groups of males were then seen fighting outside Hawk Close with various weapons.

Three other people were taken to hospital with injuries not currently believed to be life-threatening.

Three men, aged 23, 43 and 56, have been arrested on suspicion of assault. A man aged 29 was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

Several weapons including a hammer and knives were seized.

Enquiries are ongoing to confirm the circumstances surrounding this incident.

Detective Inspector Andy Wright of GMP’s Bury district said: “I would like to reassure the public that we believe this incident is an isolated and targeted incident and poses no wider risk to the local community.

“Last night’s attack was vicious and premeditated and I want to reassure the public we are working around the clock to piece together what happened, why and locate any outstanding offenders.

“I understand this incident will cause a number of concerns within the local area however, rest assured there will be extra patrol plans in place to provide a visible and reassuring policing presence in the community. If you do have any concerns, I urge you to speak to the officers who will be on hand to assist.

“We are also appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident and who may have information to share – including footage such as CCTV, mobile or dashcam – to make contact with police directly.”
