A car chase which saw the vehicle going the wrong way around the M60 near Heywood ended with three people being arrested
Police were alert to a possible stolen vehicle travelling on Bury New Road, Heywood on Monday evening
Asthe suspect vehicle pulled into a petrol station, the driver spotted the second police vehicle nearby and attempted to make off.
A pursuit commenced, where the suspect vehicle entered the motorway and was followed by two patrol cars.
After a short pursuit the driver then attempted to leave the motorway by performing an illegal U‑turn.
After a four‑minute pursuit, officers made tactical contact bringing the vehicle to a stop. Two police vehicles were significantly damaged during the incident.
All three occupants were detained. The driver was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, failing to stop, dangerous driving and driving without insurance. The two passengers sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital.
The driver has been bailed pending further investigation.
