Three people have been arrested following a dangerous incident involving a stolen vehicle in Salford last night
Officers from the Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit (TVIU) sighted a vehicle on Cromwell Road which had previously been reported stolen from the Tameside area and was displaying false number plates.
As police attempted to follow the vehicle, the occupants threw bricks at a marked police car, forcing the first vehicle to pull over due to the risk posed. A second vehicle from TVIU team then took over the pursuit.
During the incident, further bricks were thrown at police vehicles, placing other road users at significant risk.
The vehicle was later abandoned and the occupants fled on foot.
The three suspects were located nearby on Nursery Street, Salford, by TVIU officers.
Following searches, officers recovered knives from the suspects, which were seized.
The three men in their 20’s were arrested on suspicion of taking a motor vehicle without consent, criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon.
They remain in police custody while enquiries continue.
