A quickfire double by Accrington Stanley condemned Rochdale to their third defeat of the season, leaving them one point outside the early drop zone. Rochdale took the lead through Keohane, only for Pritchard & Russell to score two in two minutes 10 minutes later.

Wigan Athletic looked to make it three wins on the bounce at Crewe at the weekend. However, despite a COVID19 outbreak within the squad, Crewe came out 3-0 winners with goals from Offord, Pickering and Mandron.

Bolton Wanderers made it two games unbeaten with a draw against bottom of the league Grimsby Town. Despite sharing 17 shots on goal, not one of them had been on target, as the Trotters continue to properly get motoring in League Two.

On the other end of the scale. Salford City saw their unbeaten run stretch to five games with their third draw of the season against a depleted Tranmere Rovers side, due to two positive cases at the club. Salford went 2-0 up inside the first 20 minutes, only for Tranmere to snatch a draw. Goals from Morris four minutes from time and a Lewis injury-time equaliser shocked the Ammies.

Oldham Athletic, on the other hand, were handed their fourth defeat of the season as Harry Kewell continues to struggle. A 3-2 defeat to Morecambe sees Oldham drop to the bottom of League Two. The only saving grace and positive for Oldham at present is the ban on fans inside football grounds.

Into Non-League

Jim Gannon’s Stockport County side clocked up back-to-back wins with a 3-0 victory over Dover Athletic. John Rooney’s double and Alex Reid both opened their accounts for the club as County jump into the early playoff places. Altrincham picked up another point, as they made it two draws and a loss with a 1-1 draw against unbeaten Eastleigh.

In the National League North, Curzon Ashton made it two draws on the bounce with a spirited comeback in the last 15 mins against Brackley Town. Two goals from new signing Dom Knowles seen the Nash share the points.

The Northern Premier division

Ashton United suffered their first league defeat of the season against Matlock Town, Micheal Clegg’s side lost 4-1. Stalybridge Celtic also shipped in four goals with a home defeat to Buxton, seeing them drop to the bottom of the league. Radcliffe was unlucky against Basford United, in a match that didn’t reflect the scoreline. Lee Fowler’s men hit wave after wave of attack but just couldn’t find a way through, while Basford took their chances with a 3-0 win.

Hyde United was the only team to gain any points from the Greater Manchester sides in the division. David McGurk’s men beat Stafford Rangers 2-0 with Paddy Lane and Uche sealing the win.

Into the Northern Premier West division, and Trafford tasted league defeat for the first time with a 5-1 loss against an impressive Marske United side. Matthew Morgan claiming a consolation goal on the 73rd minute. Mossley also dropped points against Workington, David Fish saw his side lose 2-0 but remain midtable.

Ramsbottom United made it four wins from four, a 2-1 win over bottom side Ossett United continued their great start to the season. Goals from Donaldson and Osi-Efa was enough for the comeback after going behind in the first half.
