The iphone has been a necessary tool for millions of people all around the world since decades. Most iphone fans would not even think of switching to other brands for their cellular needs as they claim to be quite happy and accustomed to their iphone features, sometimes even to the point of becoming obsessed. Whether it is airplay or facetime or iphone casinos or live text in videos, the iphone users have an ever-growing demand for higher connection speed so that they are able to enjoy what their cell phones are offering, be it, the best video chat quality, the latest gaming experience, the best iphone casinos, the best way to sign up to websites anonymously via Hide my Email, e.t.c.

Although Britain was one of the first countries in the world to start using 5G it seems that now it is not keeping up. At least three companies have been actively deploying 5G since mid-2019 and, as a result, many cities have seen 5G in 2019 and more in 2020. According to the Financial Times of 2 August 2023, though, phone companies haven’t been spending enough ever since. While it is estimated that 82% of homes and workplaces in the UK can get 5G from at least one company, only 22% have it from all the phone services.

Hence, 5G is definitely expanding in the UK although it still has a long way to go. By mid-2023 official reports stated that 5G coverage was available in 113 major cities and towns in Britain. Alas, this does not mean that every inhabitant in these cities can actually enjoy this superfast internet speed, as in most cases the coverage is offered by one, maybe two, but not all providers and, on top of that, this coverage is not available in every part of the city. Hence, odds are that the same iphone user who is able to have a high quality video chat or have fun with the best casino apps for iphone  at “the speed of light” when being in the center of the city, will have to settle with a lot less should his/her business bring him to the suburbs or any other part of the city where there is no 5G coverage yet.

The demand urges the government and the providers to try and expand coverage fast, though. It was during this week that the announcement was made of a £36 million fund to accelerate 5G-enabled innovation. The funding will see 5G Innovation Regions invest in local projects to boost advanced wireless connectivity as well as give the opportunity to millions of iphone holders to enjoy their devices’ features to the fullest.

It has been three years since the first iphones having 5G connectivity were introduced in the UK. It is estimated that 3 out of 4 households in Britain owe at least one iphone. With the cost for the purchase of each device being close to or over a 4-digit number, it is only natural that iphone fans are constantly pushing for greater 5G coverage to take full advantage of what their devices offer and get their money’s worth. According to OPENSIGNAL benchmarks of June 2023 the UK has a 5G availability rate of just 10.1% while other European countries like Finland and Bulgaria are at the top (24.2% – 24.7%).

Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube and Instagram are the four most used apps in the UK. They are all very demanding when it comes to connection speed and they are getting even more demanding each day that passes by, as their users are constantly asking for better video and sound quality. The providers definitely have to keep up with these demands to maintain their share in the market and satisfy iphone owners who are the majority. The race has started and it will be a long one.
