The Deansgate Pub CGI night

Iconic Manchester pub The Deansgate, is due to reopen this month following a significant investment which will restore the venue to its former glory.

The historic pub occupies a prominent position at the end of Deansgate next to the Hilton Hotel and Deansgate Locks. It suddenly closed its doors back in March 2020 during the COVID lockdown, and the site has remained closed until being acquired by Greene King earlier this year.

Now a three-month refurbishment project is underway, designed by leisure and hospitality specialists, Inventive Design Associates Limited. The venue’s existing two floors and roof top terrace will undergo a complete refurbishment, while a third floor and additional terrace space will provide an extra bookable drinking and dining space.

The new look pub will create 50 new jobs in the region, with recruitment currently underway for front of house and kitchen staff.

The Deansgate originally opened in the 19th Century as a traditional pub. The contemporary fitout will ensure some of the venue’s original features will be retained including stained glass windows, external frontage, ceilings, and woodwork. There are also plans to re-install The Deansgate’s signature outdoor lighting.

New additions include a feature bar and bespoke brass fonts on the ground floor, built-in seating booths for social dining occasions and two outdoor terraces.

Jonathon Evans, General Manager at The Deansgate, said, “The Deansgate is well-known and well-loved by the people of Manchester and we are looking forward to opening its doors once more and welcoming customers old and new.

“The new-look pub will pay homage to some of the venue’s original features and we also have some exciting new additions which we’re looking forward to unveiling.”

More details on the new look pub will be announced over the coming weeks and information on The Deansgate can be found HERE.
