Three people, including child, were killed as a result of the Russian airstrike on children’s, maternity hospital in Mariupol.and least 17 people, including staff and patients, were injured in the air strike Ukraine said.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an address late last night: “What kind of country is this — the Russian Federation, which is afraid of hospitals and maternity hospitals and destroys them?
“Did someone in the maternity hospital abuse Russian-speakers? What was that? Was it the ‘denazification’ of the hospital? Everything the invaders are doing to Mariupol is beyond atrocities already.
“Today, we must be united in condemning this war crime of Russia, which reflects all the evil that the invaders brought to our land.” Zelenskyy added that the attack was the “final proof … that the genocide of Ukrainians is taking place.”
More than 1 million children have fled Ukraine since start of Russia’s all-out war.
UNICEF executive director Catherine Russell said at least 37 children have been killed and 50 injured in less than two weeks, while over 1 million children had to flee Ukraine.
