A 64 year old woman has died after being hit by a car in Newton Heath yesterday evening
The accident happened on Thorp Road just before 6.00pm.
The car, a Mitsubishi L200 Barbarian was travelling towards Oldham Road when it collided with a woman.
The 64-year-old sustained multiple serious injuries and, despite the best efforts of paramedics, she was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Her next of kin has been informed. They are being supported by specialist officers.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene.No arrests have been made.
An investigation is underway.
PC John Harrison-Gough of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This is a tragic incident in which a woman has lost her life. Our thoughts are with her family and friends at what is undoubtedly a devastating time for them.
“Our investigation is ongoing and I would like to take this opportunity to ask anyone with information or dash cam footage from the area at the time, which may assist officers with their enquiries, to contact us as soon as possible.”
