A teenager has been arrested after a hit and run in Heald Green

Police arrested the 19 year old male this morning on suspicion of a section 18 assault. He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

An 18 year old pedestrian was taken to hospital after being hit by a car on St Anne’s Road North, Heald Green last Sunday evening

He sustained minor injuries and has since left hospital.

The car – believed to be a white Volkswagen Golf – failed to stop at the scene of the collision.

Detective Constable Robert Shakespeare of GMP’s Stockport district, said: “We recognise the concern and worry this incident has created in the area and I want to reassure the public that we are doing all we can to identify the responsible party.

“Thankfully the man did not sustain any serious injuries but the outcome of this collision could have been far worse.

“Although one male has been arrested in connection with this incident I would stress that our investigation is very much ongoing and I appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at the time – or has dash-cam footage – to get in touch with police as soon as possible.”
