This Halloween and All Saints’ Day, 31st Oct and 1st Nov, Tales of Other Minds will debut two shows at The White Hotel in Salford.

The play explores a surrealist comedic narrative of characters on the sidelines of modern society, through eight skits cleverly orchestrated to make you cringe, laugh and cry, all the while in amazement at the idiosyncratic perspective from the world in which the writers have created – the TOOM world.

After the roaring sell out success of its friends and family premiere at The Kings Arms back in August, the grassroots theatre group have found a new home for their play at The White Hotel. This move, from one iconic Salford venue to another, has given the theatre group a chance to prove themselves to have an audience in Manchester’s dynamic DIY cultural landscape, in which they wish to showcase a new look for theatre in the city.

Tales of Other Mind’s director Charles Abbott speaks of the play, “This is a show for the transitional timescape. Wedged there in the in-between. Summer to Winter. True and false. Stupid and sly. Indulge yourself and exploit these wandering stooges, as we have, for they won’t be here for long. A two-night jaunt into the absent mind, the urban frontiers. Digging up your friendly neighbourhood nutters and nice-guys, to serve you your bittersweet supper. Harvest has come again.”

Each showcase will begin at 8pm, featuring the cast of the company, in order of appearance, Fionntan Cooper, Charles Abbott, Ethan Simpkin, Ruby Kerr, Sophie Slusarenko, Rory Wood, Finn Mooney, Charlie O’Brien and Josh Bridge. Performing the following skits: “The Mecca”, “Auto-therapist”, “Record Shop Incel”, “Billy Pigeon”, “Chinese Whispers”, “A Confidence Trickster?”, “Enjoy the Coffee”, “Doctor, Doctor”, written by Charles Abbott, Josh Bridge and Rory Wood.

As well as actors and writers, the grassroots group have their own Art Director, Kate Robinson, who has designed and built the set for each of the skits. In addition to this, they have called on their community to help with costumes, music and graphic design, with costumes provided by Chris Henderson and Tiz W.S, music from Emergency Loop Made, and graphic materials from George Brown.

This collective certainly flies with a distinctive buzz in the city, which is easily demonstrated through the dark and mysterious happenings on their Instagram page @tales_of_other_minds. So, be sure to grab your tickets, for £11.50, from Resident Advisor ahead of their debut at The White hotel next week.
