Thanks to a generous donation from confectionary manufacturer Swizzels, Stockport Council has been distributing sweets along with other goodies such as creative packs and computer equipment (thanks to regional and national initiatives) to help Stockport’s children in need to continue learning during covid-19.
Other initiatives which have helped young people include creative care packs which have been sent to some residents who are not online and who may be feeling more isolated and lonely. Each kit contains 36 pages of activities, hints and tips on protecting your mental wellbeing and a set of art materials.
Computer equipment has also been sent to children in need and schools as part of the Department for Education scheme to help disadvantaged young people to continue their education and contact with support services.
These schemes have helped children be more connected and able to learn, now this donation of sweets has given them a nice treat during what is a difficult time.

It’s easy to forget that these young people are still having to study during these difficult times so it’s important to show them that we care, and they are not forgotten and this generous donation from Swizzels goes some way in helping us do that.”
