Survivors Manchester, a Greater Manchester charity that provides support to male survivors of unwanted sexual experiences, is launching a Christmas appeal by asking people to donate non-perishable food items and toiletries for Salford Food Bank.

Following the charity’s move to Deva City, Salford, in November and its recent project with the Diocese of Salford, ‘Healing Through Community’, Survivors Manchester is cementing its place in the community by helping to collect much needed essentials for Salford Food Bank.

Anyone wanting to donate items, including tinned meat, UHT milk, long-life fruit juice and small jars of coffee, can bring them to the Survivors Manchester offices, Unit 9, Brewery Yard, Deva Centre Office Park, Salford, from Monday 3rd December until Friday 14th December between 9am and 5pm.

Duncan Craig, CEO of Survivors Manchester said: “We love being part of the community in Salford and have felt so welcomed since moving to our new offices that we wanted to take the opportunity to give a little something back and help those who maybe struggling on the run up to Christmas.”

“The Salford Food Bank offers an invaluable service to the community and we are really pleased to be able to support them. We’re asking anyone who would like to get involved and support our appeal by dropping off non-food items to our offices and we will collect them all and deliver them to the Food Bank just in time for the festive holidays.”

Salford Food Bank welcome all non-perishable food and toiletries excluding razors.

Mark Whittington, manager at Salford Food Bank added: “We always see an increase in demand at this time of year and we really appreciate Survivors Manchester launching this appeal to help us.”

Alison Page, CEO of Salford CVS said: “While many people enjoy the festive period, it can often by a period of great worry for people who are struggling to pay for food and basic toiletries. It’s great to see charities like Survivors Manchester and the Salford Food Bank working together within the community and I echo Duncan’s request for people to get involved.”
