The exciting redevelopment of Stretford town centre has taken another huge step forward after the Council granted permission for 53 new homes on the Lacy Street car park site.
The Council’s planning committee last night gave the go ahead for the development opposite Stretford Mall which will deliver the new sustainable and thermally efficient housing.
The scheme, by Trafford Developments, a division of Trafford Council, is made up of six two-bedroom apartments, ten two-bedroom terraces, 25 three-bedroom townhouses and 12 four-bedroom townhouses – with 25 per cent of homes affordable.
As part of the development, there will be some improvement works to Bannister Street which will connect Chester Road to the canal, with a link to Edge Lane, as a landscaped active travel route. A parking space will be provided for all three and four bedroom townhouses and there will be an additional dedicated car club space. All two-bedroom apartments and houses will be car-free and all parking spaces will be equipped with electric vehicular charging points (EVCP).
The Lacy Street site forms part of the overall regeneration of Stretford outlined in the 2021 and 2024 Masterplan. Stretford Mall’s King Street, across from the Lacy Street site, is currently being redeveloped by the Council in partnership with Bruntwood.
