Stretford Socials, Stretford Town Centre’s monthly community event, for the M32 neighbourhood is back for the first celebration of the year on 4th February.

There will be a whole raft of community support activity including fundraising opportunities for local charities, all designed by the local community. St Matthews Church will be raising church funds with their fabulous cake sale, the Stretford Food Bank will be back with their food collection service, whilst self-funded voluntary group Stretford In Bloom, who work to improve Stretford’s public realm have organised a plant swap and sale. Not-for-profit Collaborative Women will also have a stall, to offer information about their work in assisting women in making the most constructive choices for their future.

More sweet treats will be on offer thanks to M32 locals Beatties Bakery, serving brownies, blondies, millionaire shortbread, cookies & cakes.

Across the day there’ll be an open mic, giving members of the community a chance to show off their talents.

Other stalls for the February Stretford Socials include:

  • Christopher Moffat Design – Local artist producing bespoke digital artwork
  • Hayley Dean designs – Local artist who produces colourful personalised artwork and art prints all designed and made by herself
  • DLC Gifts – Making one off pieces and special bespoke designs. All pieces are completely one of a kind and handmade.
  • Debz D-Litez – Selling handmade scented candles made from soy & paraffin wax
  • B&E Fabric Creations – Handmade fabric creations, from bows to buntings
  • Sara Winstanley – A semi-retired graphic designer who upcycles unsellable jewellery.
  • Cocoon – Local Stretford mum of 3 who is at the beginning of her small business journey, creating eco friendly gifts, crafts and party bags.

Bruntwood and Trafford Council were recently given the green light to reinstate King Street, the historic beating heart of Stretford. The plans will create a new, thriving high street and a home for retailers, eateries and bars to boost the local evening economy. The plans will reinvigorate and reconnect the town centre making it an even better place to live, work and play.

With the development set to kick off in Spring, this will be a special edition of the Stretford Socials as representatives from the Stretford Town Centre team will be at The SQ, the Mall’s community space, from 12.00pm – 4.00pm to answer questions about the upcoming transformation.

The Stretford Socials have been a successful community collaboration and a chance for the community to come together. Local businesses that would like to get involved in the next Stretford Socials event please contact placemakerevents@outlook.com.
