Trafford residents and visitors are being encouraged to ‘step back in time’ with Trafford Local Studies at Waterside in Sale from Tuesday 17 to Thursday 19 November (10am-4pm) as part of the national ‘Explore your Archive’ campaign.
Coordinated by The National Archives and the Archives and Records Association (UK and Ireland), this campaign enables Trafford to showcase some unique archives and documents, dating back to the reign of Elizabeth I. With fascinating archives covering each century, this is a fantastic opportunity to peer into Trafford life through the ages.
Executive Member for Communities and Partnerships, Cllr John Lamb, said: “This provides a fantastic opportunity for people to take a look at the vast range of archives and documents held locally. I would encourage people to take the time to go along and see for themselves just what a fascinating history Trafford has had.”
Between 2.30pm and 4pm each day staff and volunteers will be on hand to answer questions about the archives, their history and conservation and give an insight into how some of them were recently used to assist research as part of the First World War Centenary Project.
