Builders at Oldham’s new ODEON cinema have been pictured putting the finishing touches to the cutting-edge cinema due to open on Friday October 21st.

The state-of-the-art ISENSE screen will take pride of place in a 206-seat ISENSE theatre. Featuring floor-to-ceiling Dolby ATMOS sound the new screen has been designed to deliver an ultra-high definition cinema experience.

ISENSE offers a truly remarkable movie-going experience that combines superior levels of big-picture quality, breathtaking immersive sound and all within an enhanced acoustic environment that caters for the optimum in guest seating comfort.

The screen measures 15m x 6.2m, and is curved to maximise light reflection, packing state-of-the-art 4K digital projectors that deliver almost nine million pixels for an even clearer and more detailed picture.

Sitting at the heart of the multi-million pound project to redevelop the Old Town Hall, the cinema will hold 789 seats across seven screens – and will open in time for guests to enjoy the latest blockbusters during the half term holidays.

To mark this milestone in the cinema’s development, ODEON have announced that local film fans can enjoy the latest blockbusters such as Trolls and Jack Reacher: Never Go Back on the new ultra-high-definition ISENSE screen for just £5 for an adult ticket during opening weekend.

Some of the biggest films to be shown in the new cinema include Trolls (released 21st October) Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (released 18th November) and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (released 16th December).

Duncan Reynolds, Managing Director at ODEON UK and Ireland, said: “We’re delighted to be bringing the ODEON cinema experience back to Oldham after three decades. The cutting edge ISENSE screen will offer a truly unique and immersive experience for our guests to enjoy.

Oldham was last home to an ODEON cinema back in 1982, when the likes of Return of the Jedi was on the big screen, so it seems very fitting that guests will be able to enjoy Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in the first year that we’ve returned to the area.
