Police are appealing for any witnesses after gun shots were fired towards a 27-year-old man in the street on Heathland Terrace, Cale Green on Saturday night

Two men drove to Heathland Terrace on a motorbike before the pillion rider walked towards the victim and fired several shots in his direction. The duo then fled on the motorbike towards Stockport Town Centre.

The man wasn’t injured and called police. Specialist officers attended and found several bullet casings in the street which have been recovered for forensic analysis.

No arrests have currently been made and enquiries are ongoing.

Chief Inspector Michael Parker, of GMP’s Stockport district, said: “Clearly this incident could easily have had tragic consequences and it’s incredibly lucky that the man or other members of the public were not injured.

“Whilst this is believed to have been a targeted attack, it’s very important that we trace those responsible for this senseless and dangerous attack and officers are working hard to piece together the circumstances.

“I would urge any witnesses, anyone who might have seen two men on a motorbike in the local area last night, or anyone with any information – no matter how small or insignificant it may seem, to get in touch as soon as possible.”
