A man in his fifties has been taken to hospital for treatment of injuries to his leg and back after being shot in Cheadle Hulme this afternoon.

The shooting happened outside the Village hotel on Cheadle Road just before 4.00pm.

The offender is described as a man on a black moped that had a rear mudguard in the shape of a triangle. He was wearing a light coloured helmet and a baggy dark jacket.

Enquiries into the full circumstances around this incident are ongoing.

Inspector Terry Chatterton of GMP’s Stockport borough, said: “Now that the man is being treated by the ambulance service, our main priority is to locate the person responsible for this shooting.

“Our initial enquiries indicate this was a targeted attack, but we are working locally to establish how this situation unfolded and need people who saw this happen to come forward.
