Police investigating the murder of a man who was killed with his own car in Chorlton have made two further arrests.

A 29-year-old man from South Manchester was arrested on suspicion of murder and burglary and, this morning,a 15-year-old boy from South Manchester was also arrested on suspicion of murder and burglary.

They both remain in police custody for questioning

Two men aged 20 and 21 who were arrested on suspicion of murder have been bailed pending further enquiries.

35-year-old Mike Samwell was killed after being hit by his own car as he tried to stop thieves from stealing it in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Detective Inspector Lewis Hughes, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “This has been a fast moving investigation and we have made significant progress since Mike’s murder and have now arrested two more people who will be questioned by detectives later today.

“However, our enquiries do not end there and we will continue to move forward with the investigation but we still need the public’s help.

“If you have any information that you believe can help us then I would urge you to please contact police immediately.”
