Today will see the formal county Proclamation to the people of Greater Manchester of the beginning of his Majesty King Charles III’s reign

In the City Centre Proclamation will take place in St Peter’s Square, at 1pm on Sunday 11 September in front of Central Library.

Lord Mayor of Manchester Cllr Donna Ludford and Lord-Lieutenant of Greater Manchester Diane Hawkins will give introductory addresses before High Sherriff of Greater Manchester Lorraine Worsley-Carter MBE reads the Greater Manchester Proclamation.

The mayors of the other nine Greater Manchester local authorities, who will be in attendance, will then be given copies of the Proclamation to read in their own areas afterwards.

The National Anthem will also be played.

The short ceremony is expected to last about half an hour.

In Salford the  public ceremony to proclaim the accession of King Charles III will be held at the front of Salford Civic Centre, Sunday 11 Sept 4pm.

The proclamation will be read by The Right Worshipful Mayor of the City of Salford, Councillor Ann-Marie Humphreys

In Trafford it will take place at Trafford Town Hall at 3pm

In Wigan the formal proclamation will take place at 3.30pm at Believe Square.

Wigan Town Hall’s reception will be open from 1pm – 4.30pm for residents to add their names to the book of condolence.

The Mayor of Stockport will proclaim the ascension of His Majesty The King Charles III to Monarch of the United Kingdom. The proclamation will begin at 3pm, with members of the public asked to arrive from 2.30pm onwards. The proclamation will take place on the steps of Stockport Town Hall, facing the A6.

In Bury it will take place in Union Square, opposite the main entrance of Bury Town Hall, at 3pm.

The proclamation will be delivered by the Mayor of Bury, Councillor Shaheena Haroon, and Knowsley Street will be closed for the brief duration of the announcement.

In Tameside Civic Mayor, Cllr Mike Glover and local officials will gather at 3pm, outside Dukinfield Town Hall.

In Bolton Residents are invited to gather in Victoria Square for 3.30pm to hear the proclamation.
