Roma fans who ambushed Manchester based referee Anthony Taylor at Budapest  after the Europa Cup final have been branded a disgrace

The Premier League official who comes from Wythenshawe was criticised for his performance in the final by Roma boss Jose Mourinho during his post-match press conference after the Italian side lost on penalties to Sevilla.

Video taken of the incident saw the Referee’s daughter in tears as the family pushed thru crowds

Video footage which later emerged on social media, showed the former Manchester United manager seen gesticulating at Taylor and officials in the stadium car park and heard saying “disgrace”.

Former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand tweeted

“How has he been left to walk without security – all of the authorities have to start thinking worst case scenarios the way things are. These thugs should be held accountable”
