Rochdale boss Jim McNulty says it has been a good Easter period for Dale, having picked up seven points in the last three games.

Dale drew 1-1 at playoff contenders Mansfield Town on Easter Monday, following back-to-back wins previously.

Interim Manager McNulty said it was a brilliant point to gain and was pleased with the response to going behind early on.

“It’s a brilliant point against a team, at home, in great form that are gunning for the playoffs,” he commented.

“They’ve scored eight goals in the last two games and are a very good team, which was reflected in what they did to us at our own stadium. We were very mindful that the level of opponent we were playing today was a very good one.

“It was a different type of game that we faced in the last two and we were mindful of that. They put us under it – no doubt about it. We prepared for that and expected it.

“Off the back of that, I’m very pleased with my players. Pleased with the mentality having gone a goal down after five minutes, to recover and show real resilience, and then develop on top of that resilience to play some exciting football and some brilliant phases, whereby if we’d have put the ball in the back of the net at the end of those phases, we’d have been eulogising about those goals.

“So I’m really happy with the whole squad today and the group throughout this week.

“It’s been a good Easter, off the back of the horrendous position we found ourselves in and not a lot of hope outside of our walls.

“But there was hope inside our walls and lots of excitement from me to work with these players and try to create a gameplan and a style that I believe can cause teams problems.

“We’ve seen some substance from that in the last three games and from that today.

“We did ride our luck at times and our goalkeeper was excellent, but we put them under pressure too and had some great chances which caused them problems. It was a very exciting game.”
