If you’re working in the science and pharmaceuticals sector, then you may be suffering from sleepless nights. A new study by wooden beds manufacturer, Get Laid Beds, has revealed that you’re the ones who suffer with the worst night’s sleep.

However, if you’re working in the energy and utilities sector, then you’re in luck as you’re the ones that are likely to get the best snooze!

The above data has been based on those that admit to getting more than seven hours of sleep a night, and those that get under seven hours of sleep.

Stereotypically, the jobs that most of us see as the most demanding and stressful are the ones that are closer to the ‘bad sleep’ mark, including healthcare, law enforcement, social care and business and management.

Jobs that are more likely to have you work from an office are the ones that are least likely to cause any harm to your sleeping pattern. This includes the likes of marketing and PR, recruitment, and IT.

From the most likely to get seven hours of sleep to the least likely, these are the job sectors that Get Laid Beds looked at in the campaign:

  • Energy and utilities
  • Marketing, advertising and PR
  • Sales
  • Transport and logistics
  • Recruitment
  • Retail
  • IT
  • Accountancy, banking and finance
  • Environment and agriculture
  • Law
  • Media and internet
  • Hospitality and events management
  • Volunteer work and charity
  • Creative arts and design
  • Engineering and manufacturing
  • Public service and administration
  • Teacher training and education
  • Social care
  • Law enforcement and security
  • Healthcare
  • Leisure, sport and tourism
  • Business, consulting and management
  • Science and pharmaceuticals

The study also looked at who is most likely to cope with a managerial job in terms of sleep, and who is least likely.

The study showed that men with managerial job titles are the ones most likely to suffer with a bad sleep, while women in managerial job titles are the ones that are least likely to suffer with a bad night’s sleep.

However, women in junior level positions are reported to get an even worse night’s sleep than men with similar position titles.

So, to summarise, if you’re looking for the best night’s sleep, you either need to be a high-up woman in a managerial position working in the energy and utilities sector, or a junior-positioned male in the same sector.

And, if you’re a man in a managerial position in the science and pharmaceuticals sector, then you’re the ones that are worse off, according to this study!
