Two local artists – Caroline Dowsett and Chelsie Dawn – have come together with the Hallé’s Archive Team to offer two mindful, creative workshops for adults this autumn. Taking place in the centre of Ancoats, participants will learn different art forms using upcycled materials from the Hallé’s archive.
Get together with friends and neighbours in the relaxing environment of the Victoria Wood Hall at Hallé St Peter’s to create something beautiful you can take home. These two standalone events are not to be missed by those who have a love of history, art, music and creative activities.
The first Art Club session – Mindful painting and collage to music – takes place on Thursday 19th September. Led by Illustrator and Artist Caroline Dowsett, participants will be guided through a series of creative activities using paint and collage. Inspired by the Hallé’s heritage, live music and the surrounding nature of Ancoats, lose yourself whilst creating colourful and striking paintings. Former Hallé musician, James Muirhead, will also be performing throughout the event.
The second Art Club session – Terrazzo coaster making – takes place on Thursday 24th October, and will be led by an expert from Studio Dawn. Learn the art of mixing, casting and sanding as you create your own one-of-a-kind home décor from the signature chips of damaged vinyl records. You will be guided through this historical technique during the two-hour session.
Tickets for these workshops cost just £30 for each two-hour session. The ticket price includes all materials and complimentary refreshments. Thanks to the support of the National Lottery Heritage Fund and National Lottery players, there are a limited number of discounted tickets for Ancoats residents.
It’s a great opportunity, especially if you are new to the area, to meet your neighbours whilst trying something creative.
