The Princess Royal has been in Salford, visiting Private White V.C. to tour its factory and officially open the on-premises new store to the public.

As President of The UK Fashion & Textile Association, HRH The Princess Royal showed particular interest in the factory’s rich manufacturing history, which dates back to pre-World War One.

The Princess Royal was greeted by Managing Director James Eden, the great-grandson of Private Jack White who founded the fabric factory after being awarded the Victoria Cross during the First World War.

Her Royal Highness was then given a tour of the Nineteenth Century building and spoke to factory workers about their craft and the importance of British manufacturing.

The Private White V.C. store is located at Cottenham House and the store at the factory has been designed by Creative Director, Nick Ashley,

“We have designed the shop to be a natural extension to the factory. All the furniture used is from within the building. We wanted to keep it elemental, basic use of brick, leather, cast metal, wood, glass and copper,” said Nick

The store spans 700sq ft and will be selling the label’s entire collection and accessories. The store will also offer tours of the factory by appointment only.
