Veg-lead baby food brand Babease, has launched in Manchester a nationwide initiative to donate 25,000 surplus highly nutritious baby food pouches to food kitchens.

The Babease brand is an ambient and organic range of premium weaning products, endorsed by Public Health England and is equally suitable for adults – four pouches making a generous adult meal. The pouches being donated contain a tasty recipe packed full of kidney and black beans, peppers, onions, tomatoes, sweet potato, and herbs to make a classic Mexican meal that can either be served with mince to make chilli con carne or can be cooled to make a burrito filling.

Working with Manchester City Council’s Food Response Team, part of the council’s Manchester Food Partnership, Babease has been liaising with many of the City’s community pantries and has now been able to donate several thousand pouches to the Coverdale Community Centre and the Bread & Butter group in the Manchester area.

Commenting on the project, Dee Stirling, Director at Babease said: “We were committed not to waste this highly nutritious food and we are delighted to partner with Coverdale and Bread & Butter to support those in need.”

Tom Allan of Coverdale Community centre added: “As temperatures drop the need for hot food becomes more important. Therefore, this generous donation is most welcome, and we are very grateful for Babease’s support.”
