Police have launched a murder investigation after a forty year old man was found dead in Hyde yesterday evening.

Officers were alerted by the ambulance service to a death at a property on Harbour Farm Road.

On arrival, they discovered the body of a 40-year-old man.

An investigation was immediately launched and a 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody for questioning.

A Home Office post-mortem is due to take place today and the man’s next of kin have been informed.

Detective Inspector James Faulkner said: “We are doing everything we can to understand how this man came to his death and provide his family with the answers they deserve.

“A team of detectives have been working through the night and we currently believe the victim suffered a serious assault resulting in a number of injuries.

“This investigation is still at a very early stage and residents can expect a larger police presence on Harbour Farm Road as officers carry out door-to-door enquiries and our forensic team continue with their work at the scene.

“If you have any information about what happened last night, or if you think you saw or heard something which could help this investigation, then please call us or approach one of our officers.”
