Greater Manchester Police are investigating two incidents involving suspected firearms discharges in Manchester.
The first at Ainthorpe Walk in Newton Heath just before 10pm last night where man was discovered with minor injuries to his head.
It is not believed that the man or the address were the intended target, and police are closely supporting those who live there.
A second discharge occurred at a property on Ballantine Street, which is believed to have happened during a similar timeframe.
The two incidents are being treated as linked and no arrests have yet been made.
As officers continue their work, they are asking for anyone with any information to please come forward. This can be done directly or anonymously, and includes any dashcam, CCTV, or doorbell footage from around the time of the incidents.
Detective Inspector Terina Arthern, from GMP’s Manchester district, said: “Incidents of this nature are of course incredibly concerning, and we are working hard to establish the full circumstances and locate those responsible.
“We are supporting the injured man, who we do not believe to be the target of the attack. This dangerous and disgraceful act could have easily resulted in much more serious injury or worse to an innocent member of the public.
“While no arrests have yet been made, we are already undertaking multiple enquiries and additional patrols are in the area as part of this. If you have any queries, don’t hesitate to speak to an officer.
“As we continue our work, we are asking for anyone with information to please come forward, as your assistance could greatly benefit our investigation.”
