Police in Stockport made two further arrests last week following a series of moped robberies in the area.

Between 12 September and 18 September, a total of 12 moped robberies have been reported in Stockport, often involving a group of males wearing balaclavas and armed with weapons.

Early last week three males were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery and have since been released on bail.

And as a result of an increase in police patrols of the area, an additional two people have been arrested.

Last Tuesday evening police spotted a suspected stolen moped on Wilmslow Road in Stockport and engaged in a short pursuit.

The moped stopped on Mauldeth Road West and the driver and passenger fled on foot.

A 19-year-old man was located and arrested on suspicion of robbery and driving offences. He was released on bail, pending further investigation.

A boy – aged 16 – was also arrested on suspicion of robbery on Thursday after police located a suspected stolen moped in his possession.

Following a search of his home, officers found a quantity of cannabis and keys to a stolen and recovered Citreon Saxo. He was further arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and theft of a stolen motor vehicle.

The 16-year-old was released on bail, pending further investigation.
