Police are appealing for witnesses after the body of a man was found Great Western Street in Moss Side last week
Two people were arrested a 59 year old man accused of perverting the course of justice, and a 38-year-old man on suspicion of manslaughter.
They have both since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Police are keeping an open mind and working around the clock to establish a timeline of events and the circumstances that led to the man’s death, which currently remains unexplained.
In the hours prior to his death, it is believed he attended an address on Greenheys Lane, in the Hulme area before he left at around 1.30am in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The deceased man has been described as being a Black 36-year-old male, around 5ft 7ins in height, and of medium build.
He was wearing a dark beanie-style hat, a dark coloured coat with lighter coloured detailing, grey/blue Nike Air Max jogging bottoms, a grey/blue Nike Air Max sweatshirt, and black Nike trainers.
Detective Chief Inspector Michelle Buchanan, of GMP City of Manchester division, said: “I would like to express my deepest sympathies to the family of the deceased and our thoughts are with them at this very sad and difficult time.
“Our team are in the early stages of this investigation, and it is important that we keep an open mind while we explore all avenues of enquiry at this point.
“You may have noticed an increased presence of officers in the area to offer reassurance as we conduct our enquiries. We would like to thank the local community for their cooperation and patience so far.
