Greater Manchester Police have made three arrests and are appealing for further information after a 98-year-old woman had her bracelet taken in Manchester.
At around 3.30pm on Saturday 10 January, the woman reported that she had been approached by two women while sitting on the seat area of her walking frame on Dale Street.
Two women approached her and engaged in conversation, distracting her while removing a bracelet – a family heirloom from her mother.
In a similar incident on the same day, officers received a reports of two women approaching a woman on Oxford Street and trying to remove her rings, while the other acted as a lookout.
Following initial enquiries, officers secured the arrest of three women – aged 35, 33, and 27 – on suspicion of theft. They remain in custody for questioning.
Officers are actively looking to recover the bracelet that was taken and have released an image of it.
Anyone who recognises it, has been sold the bracelet, or otherwise offered it, is urged to get in touch. The bracelet is a priceless family heirloom.
