A pedestrian has died and other is in hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car in Oldham yesterday afternoon

The collision happened around 3.15 on Park Road, on the junction with the entrance to the Alexandra Retail Park.

Two vehicles collided with one being pushed onto the pedestrian refuge island.

Sadly, one of the pedestrians, aged 59, suffered fatal injuries. Another man, also aged 59, suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital.

Two drivers – a man and a woman, aged 32 and 36 respectively – have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Both remain in custody for questioning.

GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam, CCTV, or mobile phone footage from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.
