More than 100 youths fighting and throwing fireworks, triggering a dispersal order to be put in place in Oldham yesterday evening

The disturbance took place just before 5.00pm on Union Street in the Town Centre

Police have implemented a patrol plan for today and over the weekend to prevent further disorder and to protect those going about their daily business.

Inspector Kat Murray, from our Oldham Central Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “The disorder last night was alarming for our residents in Oldham, and we know how much anti-social behaviour can disrupt people’s lives.

“This patrol plan is a proactive measure to help us prevent any further ASB incidents in the area as well as reassure the community.

“Officers will be patrolling the area to enforce the order and engage with the general public.

“If you are having issues with ASB, I would urge you to get in touch with your local team, who will be best placed to offer advice and support on the issues you are having.”
