Police found a cannabis farm containing around 55 fully grown plants and 64 baby plants after an early morning raid in Longsight.

The plants at a property on Birch Road had an estimated street value of £450,000.

One man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis. He remains in custody for questioning.

Electricity North West attended the property to make the electricity safe and the cannabis has been destroyed.

Sergeant Mike Williams, of GMP’s Longsight neighbourhood team, said: “Our neighbourhood team successfully acted on intelligence that was given to us by members of the community to target drug manufacture and dealing in the area.

As promised, we are doing our best to bring offenders to justice and take illegal drugs out of circulation.
