Oldham Athletic have decided to use the government’s support system and furlough the majority of their staff a club statement revealed.
With the FA postponing the professional game till the 30th April and no confirmed date for when the season will resume football is on lockdown.
The statement highlighted the fact that as Boundary Park is closed to stop the spread of COVID-19 that the majority of the staff could not take out their usual duties.
This will place the club in hibernation, measures that other clubs have also taken. Newcastle United became the first Premier League club to put their staff on furlough as emails were sent to staff on Monday.
In Newcastle’s case, the furlough applies to all non-first-team staff.
