Stockport County made it back-to-back wins on Saturday with a 2-0 win over Eastleigh in the Conference Premier.

Goals from Adam Thomas and Elliot Osborne, saw County to occupying a top-half position in the National League table.

Down a division and it was a frustrating afternoon for Altrincham as they ran out 1-0 losers to promotion hopefuls Brackley Town,James Armson scoring the only goal of the game after twenty five minutes.

Curzon Ashton fell to their first defeat of the season as Kidderminster Harriers deservedly claimed all three points from their trip to Tameside Stadium.

The Nash rarely threatened in a game controlled by the visitors for whom Ashley Chambers scored the only goal of the game just before the hour mark.

The Northern Premier League season kicked off for our local clubs. Ashton United’s first game against Atherton Colleries saw the points shared at Hurst Cross with the visitors twice coming from behind to take a point.

Newly promoted Radcliffe were narrowly edged out by South Shields 1-0 in a tight opening day fixture at the Neuven Stadium.

A Robert Briggs thunderbolt from 30 yards shortly after half time was enough to separate the two sides.

Both teams ended the game with ten men as Jason Gilchrist and Harry Winter saw red either side of the half time whistle.

FC United stumbled at the first hurdle on their return to the division as they threw away a 2-1 lead to lose 3-2 at Grantham Town.Goals from Nialle Rodney and  Regan Linney had given them the lead after falling behind in the 7th minute.

Errors cost Hyde United as they opened the new campaign with a narrow defeat at home to one of the pre-season favorites Basford.O’Brien gave the Tigers the lead after just four minutes but found themselves 3-1 down midway into the second half and despite a testing free kick from White who was later red carded, Basford claimed the points.

In the North West Division, Droyslden came back from 3-1 down at Half time to draw 3-3 at the Butcher’s Arms against Colne, two goals from Liam Caddick and a header from Rhys Clooney claiming the point.

Trafford suffered a heart-breaking end to their first game of the season when a sensational strike from 40 yards deep into injury time by Tasdcaster Albion substitute Jonathon Margetts giving the hosts a 2-1 victory.

Mossley and Ossett United played out a goalless game at Ingfield
