From 2021, the Manchester Marathon will become Therme Manchester Marathon, thanks to a partnership between two organisations: Therme Group, developers of Therme Manchester, and Human Race, owners of the Manchester Marathon.

The new partnership was born from Therme Group and Human Race’s shared commitment to promote healthy active lifestyles that benefit physical and mental wellbeing.

Therme Manchester Marathon will take place on Sunday 10 October with an incredible 32,000 runners covering a 26.2-mile route which, for the first time, will incorporate Manchester city centre. Famous for its friendly atmosphere and fast, flat route, the marathon welcomes runners of all abilities from some of the world’s greatest elite runners, to those who thought completing a marathon would never be possible.

After an extremely challenging 18 months for all, Therme Manchester Marathon will be a welcome celebration on the national and global stage and will showcase Manchester as a wellbeing-focused city of the future.

Stelian Iacob, CEO of Therme Group UK commented, “Therme Group’s vision is that wellbeing should be accessible to all, making a lifelong commitment to the communities we serve. Therme Manchester Marathon will help in building healthy, active lifestyles that boost physical and mental health. This fantastic event will be a celebration of the vibrant spirit of the Manchester community.”

Nick Rusling, CEO of Human Race said, “We are delighted to have Therme Group come on board as the title partner of the Manchester Marathon for 2021, the first year in a longstanding partnership. Both the Manchester Marathon and Therme Group have ambitious strategies in Greater Manchester, to not only improve wellbeing in the city but to reflect the unique culture and personality of Manchester. We look forward to working together to deliver a major European marathon in this wonderful city.”

Therme Manchester will be the UK’s first city-based wellbeing resort. It will be built opposite The Trafford Centre next to Barton Square, with a Metrolink station directly outside. At 28-acres, Therme Manchester will combine hundreds of water-based activities with wellbeing treatments, art, nature and technology to create a unique experience never before seen in the UK, with capacity for 20,000 visitors a day.
