A new Private Hospital has opened this morning in Manchester.
The state of the art £65m flagship hospital has been opened in Didsbury by Spire Healthcare, a leading private hospital group.
It replaces the previous hospital in Whalley Range, and will offer patients a wide range of integrated surgical, medical and diagnostic services that will meet the needs of Manchester and surrounding areas.
Designed with extensive input from consultants, staff and patients, this leading edge facility comprises 6 operating theatres; 76 patient beds (inpatient and day-case) and 23 outpatient consulting and treatment rooms.
It will offer complex surgery and medicine through a large and fully functioning Intensive Therapy Critical Care Unit (CCITU) including 5 Level 3 Critical Care beds, together with ultramodern diagnostic and imaging equipment from Siemens. Other new services include hydrotherapy, a hybrid theatre and a 120 seat education centre.
Chris Chadwick, Spire Manchester Hospital Director, said: “This new hospital is in a prime location and will provide local and wider Manchester communities with excellent access to a comprehensive range of medical services and up-to-date facilities.
“We are delighted to have made this investment in better patient services, better patient accommodation and better technology enabling us to deliver the highest quality care and clinical outcomes for all our patients at Spire Manchester Hospital.”
Neil McCullough, Spire’s Business Development Director, said: “I am thrilled that we have been able to complete this project on time and within budget. This new state of the art hospital will bring significant employment and economic benefits to the local Didsbury community as well as a leading healthcare centre for Manchester.
“I would like to thank our patients, staff, consultants, Siemens, Manchester City Council and various contractors who have been instrumental over the past two years in building what is undoubtedly one of the best independent hospitals in the country, and which brings together research, education and clinical care to serve those locally and beyond.”
