The most recent seven-day average of people testing positive for Covid-19 is 2,299 cases daily adding that the most recent seven-day average for Covid-related daily deaths is 22 –
“This is a very different place from where we were in those very dark first few weeks of 2021,” said Van Tam
Earlier the Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced that a further 60 million doses of the Pfizer vaccination have been secured for the UK’s booster vaccination programme.
He says these booster jabs are ” all about protecting the progress we’ve made.”
More than seven in 10 adults in England now have Covid antibodies due to the vaccination programme.
“The thing that makes me proudest is that when the call came, the whole nation who was asked have effectively come forward,” added Hancock
“The vaccine is helping us to bring back our freedom,” he says.
