A mural featuring Dale legend Joe Thompson at the Crown Oil Arena has been completed
Commissioned by the Thompson family in partnership with the club, the mural is a lasting and touching tribute to one of the Club’s very own.
Joe’s inspirational quote – don’t live life to survive, live life to thrive – features on the mural, which has been created by artist AKSE
The image comes from one of Joe’s most famous moments in a Dale shirt, scoring the winning goal against Charlton Athletic in May 2018, which secured the club’s survival in League One.
The mural is situated on an external wall of the stadium, at the corner of Sandy Lane and Willbutts Lane
Joe sadly passed earlier this year, following a brave battle against a third cancer diagnosis. His legacy will forever be remembered.
